Volunteering events 2024

Wednesday weekly work morning 10am-1pm
Saturday volunteer event every 3-6 weeks 10am-1pm
Join our growers to work on a seasonal task – may include planting out seedlings, weeding, harvesting crops for storage, clearing and preparing polytunnels or field beds, trimming hedges, maintaining fences, ditches and other infrastructure.

Saturday 2nd March 
Saturday volunteer event – hedge trimming
Lunch round the fire from 1pm, with ‘damper’ (campfire bread) making on the fire

Saturday 27th April
Volunteer event with the growers working in the fields or polytunnels (task to be confirmed nearer the time), 10am-1pm
Bring your own picnic lunch to eat round the fire from 1pm
Blossom walk in the orchard from 1.30pm
Come and help with a spring-time task or two in the morning, get to know other members over lunchtime and enjoy the beauty of the blossom in the orchard after lunch

Postponed from Saturday 13th April (new date TBC depending on when the land dries enough for ploughing to take place)
Big spring work task – onion planting
Spring social – details to follow soon – please check member mailings if not updated here
Come and help plant the main onion crop – a task suitable for all ages! The work will continue for as long as needed.

Open Farm Sunday: tour, refreshments, bring a picnic – PUBLIC EVENT

Saturday 6th July
Summer Party – social – our main summer celebration – PUBLIC EVENT

Saturday 31st August
EcoFest – in the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington Spa, 10am-5pm

Saturday 21st September
Big autumn work task – potato harvest
Autumn social – lunch in the field – bring a packed lunch
The potato harvest from 10am – end time approx. 3pm if volunteers still there

Saturday 28th September
Celebration of the season: AGM from 12.30 followed by a Celebration Feast

Saturday 12th October
Apple day and open day – PUBLIC EVENT
Volunteer morning in the orchard, 10am-12noon picking apples for the winter shares of the harvest.
Make apple juice using our apple press from 11am (bring a container to take the juice home with you if you’d like to, and if you have a tree in your garden and an abundance of apples, please bring apples to press too!)
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the social area
Tour of Canalside – time to be decided

Saturday 9th November
Big winter work task 10am-1pm – beetroot harvest
Winter social – lunch round the fire
Come and help harvest the beetroot crop – a task suitable for all ages!

Saturday 21st December
Warming wintry drinks alongside the bumper Christmas collection
